If you've graduated in South Australia and you're considering staying in the state for at least two years to live and work, state nomination may help you to qualify for a General Skilled Migration visa.
Learn more about what South Australia has to offer
State nomination provides a pathway to permanent residency for international graduates of South Australia.
State nomination is not a visa application; it assists you in meeting the requirements for an Australian visa. If nominated, you must lodge a visa application with the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) who are responsible for the assessing and granting of all visas.
By applying for state nomination as an international graduate of South Australia, you will benefit from:
- Access to a more extensive occupation list.
- Additional points towards the Federal points test for the 190-Skilled Nominated visa and the 489-Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa.
- More flexible state nomination requirements for international graduates of South Australia.
- Priority application processing with the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP).
Graduates who have completed their studies in South Australia could be eligible for an additional five to ten extra points towards the DIBP points test for Regional and Australian Study. Find out more here.
If you've completed your qualification interstate then you can only apply for 489-Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa for occupations listed as ‘available’ on the State Occupation List. See the interstate graduates table to see whether you qualify.
You will need to meet the general work experience requirement and all other state nomination criteria. View the interstate graduate section for more details.
If you’ve worked in a skilled occupation for 12 months in South Australia or if you have an immediate family member permanent residing here, you may be eligible to access more occupations. See skilled nomination requirements for further details.
